Sick of RINOs
I like Charles Krauthammer. However, I disagreed with his column on electable conservatives ("GOP needs to support 'electable' conservatives," Sept. 19). The hand has already been dealt and the tea party express has already left the station. In other MLB jerseys words, the conservative voters in Delaware have already exercised their constitutional rights in electing their choice. It doesn't matter what you or I think, it was their choice. We should now give Christine O'Donnell our full support.
soccer jerseys Go out there and campaign for her if you are really a supporter of the conservative movement. I am sick and tired of RINOs who pretend to be Republicans.

Bloodgate doc had been hit by
A LAWYER for Bloodgate doctor Wendy Chapman has claimed depression clouded her judgment when the scandal unfolded last year.
Mary O'Rourke, the barrister for Dr Chapman at a General Medical Council hearing, said her depression was caused by personal problems at the time of Harlequins' clash with Leinster in April 2009. 'She was waiting to hear if she had breast cancer,' Ms O'Rourke said. 'Her mother died Christian Louboutin Mary Janes of it, as did two of her aunts, and her sister had a diagnosis at the time. It was a very worrying time for her.' She added that Dr Chapman, who also had work worries, faced a 'unique situation' when Tom Williams pleaded for her to create a real injury to cover up the use of a blood capsule. Dr Chapman said earlier in the hearing that she was ashamed that she had cut Williams' lip. She admitted other charges of dishonesty.
She is expected to learn on Tuesday whether the panel have found her fitness to practice impaired.

Blood shortage in D.C. area re
By Freeman Klopott
Examiner Staff Writer
The Washington area is suffering a critical shortage of a crucial blood type as the D.C. Council plays catch-up with Maryland and Virginia to allow 16-year-olds to donate blood with a parent's consent.
The summer months, when many residents head out off to the beach or somewhere cooler, are often the slowest time for blood donations even as the need rises, officials said.
The American Red Cross said this week that the supply for the universal donor blood type 0 negative has reached critically low levels in the Washington area. Type O negative is considered the universal blood type, as it can be used by people in any blood group.
A bill proposed by D.C. Councilman Harry Thomas is designed to help alleviate the shortage.
Nike Air Max 90Since February, the D.C. Council has been examining the possibility of allowing the D.C. Health Department to pass regulations that would change the minimum blood donation age from 17 to 16. Current regulations allow 17-year-olds to donate blood without a parent's consent; the change would allow 16-year-olds to donate with a parent's consent. Virginia, Maryland and 35 other states already allow 16-year-olds to donate.
"Donations have been dropping," said Wendy Paul, associate director of transfusion medicine at Children's National Medical Center. "By lowering the age we'll increase the donor pool and put new, young donors into the pipeline."
But a 2008 American Red Cross study said looking to younger donors, who are most susceptible to complications, can result in turning teens off from donating if they faint from their first time.
The study found that 10.7 percent of 16- and 17-year-olds suffered from adverse reactions when they donated blood. That that's three times as many as adults ages 20 and over, the study said.
Paul, however, noted that though there exists a statistical difference between the reactions of young teens and adults, there is little difference between 16- and 17-year-olds.
"In many cases the bad reactions are just a bad case of nerves," Paul said.
For 14-year-old Michael Ogunjimi, of the District, the age change could mean blood is always available when he needs a monthly transfusion so he can live with sickle cell anemia. The blood disease, which primarily affects blacks, is deadly without regular infusions.
The age change "will give hope to someone like me," Ogunjimi told council members during a public hearing Tuesday afternoon. "I thank God I am alive today. I am always grateful to people in our community who give blood."

Congressional losers pick up p
WHAT'S NEXT?
Fake Furla Handbags QUINCY - The runners-up in Tuesday's Democratic and Republican primaries for the 10th Congressional District said they will steer clear of politics for the immediate future.
Republican Joe Malone, a former state treasurer and a Scituate resident, said he's thinking about a job in the media and spending more time with his family.
Democrat Robert O'Leary of Barnstable said he will be "looking to do other things, other causes." O'Leary gave up his seat of eight years in the state Senate to run. He also recently stepped down as a professor of history at Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Malone lost heavily to state Rep. Jeffrey Perry of Sandwich, who carried 62 percent of Republican voters. Malone captured 29 percent, while Hanover lawyer Robert Hayden and Cohasset accountant Raymond Kasperowicz came in with 5 percent and 4 percent, respectively.
Malone arrived at the River Club in Scituate around 9:30 p.m. with arms raised and two thumbs up, grinning to the 70 or so supporters gathered. His concession speech was upbeat, as he railed against the Washington establishment and urged people to let their voices be heard.
Malone had the support of former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He said it was not enough in a race in which he was up against "the Romney-Brown machine," referring to support Perry had from former Gov. Mitt Romney and U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.
An emotional O'Leary conceded defeat only after William Keating declared victory around 11 p.m.
O'Leary said he saw the faces of many who supported him when he became the first Cape Cod Democrat elected to the state Senate Mulberry in generations.

Congressional Leaders Support
ARDEN HILLS, Minn., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has received a letter signed by 75 Members of Congress urging the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to allow limited planting of Roundup Ready(R) alfalfa. The bipartisan group supports action by USDA that would allow farmers to plant seed that's being held in inventory while the Department completes an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) related to the product.
The letter was supported by a coalition of agriculture groups that have encouraged timely completion of the EIS process on this biotech alfalfa variety. The groups include the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC), National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), and American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF). Land O'Lakes also supported the letter. The cooperative's subsidiary Forage Genetics International developed Roundup Ready(R) alfalfa in conjunction with Monsanto.
Givenchy BagsThe letter comes on the heels of a recent Supreme Court ruling that found a lower court was in error when it placed a nationwide ban on the planting of genetically engineered alfalfa seeds. A draft EIS, developed by the USDA, found "no significant impact on the human environment due to granting non-regulated status to Roundup Ready(R) alfalfa."
"The members of Congress sending this letter should be commended for their dedication to ensuring that America's farmers and ranchers have access to all appropriate technologies needed to operate efficient and economically viable businesses," said NCFC President Chuck Conner.
Led by Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (R, KS-02), Congressmen Wally Herger (R, CA-02) and Joe Courtney (D, CT-02), the letter was signed by many key House leaders. Co-signers include much of the House Agriculture Committee leadership, including Chairman Collin Peterson (D, MN-07) and Ranking Member Frank Lucas (R, OK-03), most subcommittee chairs and ranking members, and several others - for a total of 27 committee members.
"The extensive list of signatories clearly demonstrates how important this product - and other goods produced through modern biotechnology - are to American farmers," said Russell Williams, director of Regulatory Relations at AFBF. "Those who signed the letter should be praised for their support. AFBF now hopes the USDA will move expeditiously to allow farmers to use RRA under interim deregulation," he added.
Roundup Ready(R) alfalfa increases efficiency and lowers operating costs by reducing the need for chemical applications and improving yields. These efficiencies result in an annual revenue increase for growers of approximately $100 per acre. After seven missed planting seasons, total lost farmer revenue is an estimated at $250 million. The impact of these losses is far reaching.
Dana Brooks, NMPF vice president of Government Relations, said, "As dairy producers experience tighter margins (due to higher input costs and lower milk prices), it is important that safe, beneficial technology is available to improve their efficiency. Such is the case with Roundup Ready(R) alfalfa, which has the potential to lower feed costs, by shrinking input costs, while increasing production yields. We appreciate the leadership of Representatives Jenkins, Herger and Courtney, and the commitment to agriculture shown by all of the leaders who signed this letter."
The letter comes at a pivotal time, as the fall 2010 planting season approaches. NCFC President Chuck Conner said, "By taking the requested action now, USDA can provide producers with certainty as they plan for the fall planting season and beyond."
